
Boot camp was tough because of the abuse you got from the DI's. I went through in February of 1969.
But DI School was tough because you not only had to learn everything you would need to be a DI, but the squad instructors really held your feet to the fire. The academics were three times as much and so the close order drill,running, circut course and regular P.T..
We started out with a 102 DI candidates and graduated 63. The tour of duty on the field was one of the most demanding peace time tour of duty I ever had to do. Only Vietnam as an infantry Marine was worst than that.
Would I do it again if I had to do it all over, I'd have to say yes! Remember what doesn't kill you usually makes you stronger, or in my case it was not no pain no gain, it was no brain no pain, at least that's what my DI Told me.
